Description
Ingredients
Scale
- 220 g Zucker
- 5 Eier
- 1 Paket Vanillinzucker
- 320 g Mehl
- 220 g Butter
- 1 Paket Backpulver
- 1,5 kg Äpfel, gewürfelt
- Puderzucker
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 210°C (410°F) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper or lightly grease it to prevent the cake from sticking.
- Peel, core, and cut the apples into small cubes. Set aside so they are ready to be added to the batter later.
- Place the butter in a small saucepan and gently heat it over low heat until just melted. Once melted, remove the pan from the heat and allow the butter to cool slightly.
- In a large mixing bowl, combine the sugar and eggs. Using an electric mixer or a whisk, beat the mixture for several minutes until it becomes pale, thick, and creamy. This ensures the cake will be light and fluffy.
- Add the packet of vanillinzucker (vanilla sugar) to the egg and sugar mixture and mix until evenly incorporated.
- In a separate bowl, combine the flour and baking powder, then gradually sift or add this dry mixture into the wet ingredients. Mix gently until just combined to avoid overmixing.
- Pour the slightly cooled, melted butter into the batter and stir until the mixture is smooth and all ingredients are fully incorporated.
- Gently fold the diced apples into the batter using a spatula or wooden spoon, making sure the apple pieces are evenly distributed throughout.
- Pour or spread the batter evenly over the prepared baking sheet, using a spatula to smooth the top so the cake bakes evenly.
- Place the baking sheet in the preheated oven and bake for 30 to 40 minutes, or until the cake is golden brown and a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean. Baking times may vary depending on your oven, so check for doneness after 30 minutes.
- Once baked, remove the cake from the oven and allow it to cool slightly in the pan. While still warm or once fully cooled, sprinkle a generous amount of powdered sugar over the top for a sweet finishing touch.
- Cut the cake into squares or slices and serve. Enjoy your delicious, melt-in-your-mouth Apfelkuchen!
Notes
For best results, use tart apples such as Granny Smith or Boskoop, as they hold their shape well and add a pleasant contrast to the sweet cake. The cake can be served warm or at room temperature, and a scoop of vanilla ice cream or a dollop of whipped cream makes a delightful accompaniment. If you like, you can also add a pinch of cinnamon to the batter for extra flavor.
