Apfelküchle Rezept

  • Author: Sarah

Description

Ingredients

Scale
  • 90 g Mehl
  • 1 Ei(er)
  • 1 Prise(n) Salz
  • 25 g Zucker
  • 75 ml Milch
  • 2 große Äpfel, säuerliche (z.B. Boskoop)
  • 4 EL Pflanzenöl

Instructions

  1. Begin by preparing the batter: In a large mixing bowl, add the flour, egg, salt, sugar, and milk. Whisk all the ingredients together thoroughly until you achieve a smooth, thick batter. Make sure there are no lumps of flour remaining; the batter should be cohesive and able to coat apple rings easily.
  2. Next, prepare the apples: Peel the two large, tart apples (such as Boskoop). Using an apple corer, carefully remove the core from each apple, making sure to keep the apples whole. Once cored, slice the apples crosswise into thin rings, approximately 0.5 cm thick. Set the apple rings aside.
  3. Heat the oil: Pour the four tablespoons of vegetable oil into a large frying pan and place it over medium heat. Allow the oil to heat up while you prepare the apple rings for frying.
  4. Dip the apple rings: Take each apple ring and dip it into the prepared batter, ensuring both sides are well coated. Let any excess batter drip off before frying.
  5. Fry the apple rings: Carefully place the battered apple rings into the hot oil, making sure not to overcrowd the pan. Fry the rings in batches if necessary. Cook each side for about 2-3 minutes, or until the batter is puffy and golden brown. Use a spatula to gently flip the rings halfway through cooking.
  6. Remove and drain: Once the apple rings are golden and cooked through, remove them from the pan and place them on a plate lined with paper towels to absorb any excess oil.
  7. Serve: Serve the Apfelküchle warm, optionally dusted with powdered sugar or accompanied by vanilla sauce or cinnamon sugar, according to preference. Enjoy them fresh for the best texture and flavor.

Notes

For extra flavor, you can sprinkle the freshly fried Apfelküchle with a mix of cinnamon and sugar or serve them with a scoop of vanilla ice cream. If you don’t have tart apples like Boskoop, Granny Smith apples are a good substitute. Make sure to slice the apples evenly for consistent cooking. Adjust the frying temperature as needed to prevent burning. The Apfelküchle taste best when served immediately after frying.
