- Begin by preparing your ingredients: have the Apfelmus ready, open the pack of Löffelbiskuits, measure out the milk and rum, and ensure the sweet cream (Schlagobers) is chilled for whipping later.
- In a wide, shallow bowl, combine the milk with a splash of rum. Stir well to incorporate the flavors.
- Take each Löffelbiskuit and briefly dip it into the milk-rum mixture. Ensure that the biscuits are moistened but not soggy, as they will continue to soften in the torte.
- Arrange a single layer of the soaked Löffelbiskuits on the bottom of a springform pan or a rectangular dish. Cover the entire base, trimming biscuits if necessary to fit snugly.
- Spread a generous layer of Apfelmus evenly over the biscuit base, using a spatula to smooth it out.
- Continue layering by dipping more biscuits in the milk-rum mixture and placing them on top of the Apfelmus layer. Alternate with another layer of Apfelmus. Repeat this process, finishing with a final layer of Löffelbiskuits on top.
- Cover the assembled torte with plastic wrap or a lid and place it in the refrigerator. Allow the torte to chill overnight, so the flavors meld and the biscuits absorb moisture, resulting in a cake-like texture.
- Before serving, whip the sweet cream (Schlagobers) until stiff peaks form. Carefully spread the whipped cream evenly over the entire top surface of the chilled torte.
- Garnish the torte generously with chocolate shavings (Schokoladenraspel), spreading them over the whipped cream for an appealing finish.
