Bauerntopf mit Hackfleisch Rezept

Description

Ingredients

Scale
  • 300 g Kartoffeln (potatoes)
  • 250 g Hackfleisch (ground meat, e.g. beef or mixed)
  • 1 rote Paprikaschote (red bell pepper)
  • 200 ml Wasser (water)
  • 5 EL Tomatenketchup (5 tablespoons tomato ketchup)
  • 1 Würfel Fleischbrühe (1 cube beef or meat bouillon)
  • Salz (salt)
  • Pfeffer (pepper)
  • Paprikapulver (paprika powder)
  • Cayennepfeffer (cayenne pepper)

Instructions

  1. Begin by preparing the vegetables: peel the potatoes thoroughly using a vegetable peeler, then rinse them under cold water. Cut the peeled potatoes into uniform, bite-sized cubes so they cook evenly.
  2. Wash the red bell pepper under running water, remove the stem, seeds, and white membranes, then cut the pepper into small, even cubes.
  3. Heat a large, deep skillet or a pot over medium-high heat. Add the ground meat to the pan and cook it, breaking it up into small crumbles with a spatula or wooden spoon. Continue frying until the meat is browned all over and no longer pink.
  4. Once the meat is cooked, add the diced potatoes and red bell pepper to the pan. Stir everything together so the vegetables are well mixed with the meat.
  5. Pour in the water, then add the tomato ketchup and crumble the bouillon cube into the mixture. Stir thoroughly so the bouillon dissolves and the ketchup is evenly distributed.
  6. Season the mixture generously with salt, freshly ground black pepper, paprika powder, and a pinch of cayenne pepper to your taste. Stir to combine all the seasonings evenly.
  7. Bring the contents of the pot to a gentle boil over medium-high heat. Once boiling, reduce the heat to low, cover the pot with a lid, and let everything simmer for about 20-30 minutes. Stir occasionally to prevent sticking, and check that the potatoes become tender and cooked through.
  8. Once the potatoes are soft and the sauce has slightly thickened, taste the Bauerntopf and adjust the seasoning if necessary. Add more salt, pepper, paprika, or cayenne to your liking.
  9. Serve the Bauerntopf hot, optionally garnished with fresh chopped parsley or a dollop of sour cream for extra flavor.

Notes

You can customize this rustic stew by adding more vegetables such as carrots, peas, or leeks. For a richer flavor, use a mix of ground beef and pork. If you like it spicier, increase the amount of cayenne pepper. Serve with crusty bread for a complete meal. Leftovers taste even better the next day after the flavors have melded together.
