Cheesburger Auflauf Rezept, sehr lecker

Description

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1.2 kg Hackfleisch (ground meat, preferably beef)
  • 1 large Zwiebel (onion)
  • 45 Tomaten (tomatoes)
  • 8 Scheiben Chester Schmelzkäse (slices of processed cheese, e.g. American cheese or Cheddar)
  • Salz (salt)
  • Pfeffer (pepper)
  • Paprikapulver, scharf (hot paprika powder)
  • Remoulade (remoulade sauce, or substitute with mayonnaise mixed with herbs)
  • Ketchup
  • Brötchen (bread rolls, enough to cover the bottom of your baking dish)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 180°C (356°F) using the convection (Umluft) setting so it is ready when you assemble the casserole.
  2. Peel the onion and cut it into small cubes. Wash the tomatoes, remove the seeds and inner pulp as desired, and dice the flesh into small pieces. Slice the bread rolls in half horizontally so that you have tops and bottoms.
  3. Lightly spread a thin layer of remoulade sauce on the cut side of the bottom halves of the bread rolls. Arrange these, sauce side up, in a single layer in the bottom of a large ovenproof baking dish, making sure to cover the entire base. If needed, cut some pieces to fit any gaps.
  4. Heat a large nonstick skillet over medium-high heat. Add the ground meat and cook, breaking it up with a spatula, until it starts to brown and releases its fat. Add the diced onions and continue cooking, stirring frequently, until the onions are translucent and the meat is well browned. Drain off excess fat if necessary.
  5. Add the diced tomatoes to the skillet with the meat and onions. Season generously with salt, pepper, and hot paprika powder to taste. Stir everything well and continue to cook for several minutes, until the tomatoes have softened and most of their liquid has evaporated. The mixture should be thick and not watery.
  6. Evenly spread the cooked meat and tomato mixture over the layer of bread rolls in the baking dish, making sure the mixture is distributed to the edges.
  7. Drizzle ketchup lightly over the meat mixture, then cover the entire surface with the slices of Chester Schmelzkäse (or your chosen cheese). Arrange the slices so they overlap slightly and cover all the meat.
  8. Place the casserole in the preheated oven and bake for about 15–20 minutes, or until the cheese is completely melted, bubbling, and slightly golden brown.
  9. Remove the casserole from the oven and let it cool for a few minutes. Slice into portions and serve hot. Optionally, you can garnish with chopped fresh herbs or serve with an extra dollop of remoulade or ketchup.

Notes

You can customize this Cheeseburger Casserole by adding pickles, bacon, or your favorite burger toppings before baking. For a lighter version, use low-fat cheese and a mix of ground beef and turkey. Serve with a side salad or fries for a complete meal.
