Description
Ingredients
Scale
- 1 Stk. Tortenboden (1 pre-made sponge cake base)
- 500 ml Sahne (500 ml heavy cream)
- 600 g Mandarinenstücke (600 g mandarin orange segments, drained if from a can)
- 2 Päckchen Sahnesteif (2 packets cream stabilizer)
- 2 Päckchen Paradiescreme, Vanille (alternatively: lemon or mandarin flavor) (2 packets instant vanilla pudding mix or similar dessert cream)
Instructions
- Remove the pre-made sponge cake base (Tortenboden) from its packaging and place it on a large serving plate or cake stand. If you prefer a homemade base, you can bake one ahead of time and allow it to cool completely before using.
- Drain the mandarin orange segments thoroughly if you are using canned fruit to prevent excess liquid from making the cake soggy. Set the drained mandarins aside.
- In a large sealable container or a mixing bowl with a tight-fitting lid, combine the heavy cream, cream stabilizer, instant dessert cream powder (Paradiescreme), and the drained mandarin orange segments. Make sure the container is large enough to allow for vigorous mixing.
- Seal the container tightly. Vigorously shake the container for several minutes (about 2-3 minutes), or until the cream mixture thickens and becomes light and fluffy. If you do not have a sealable container, you can use a hand mixer in a large bowl to whip the mixture until it is thick and well combined, and the mandarin pieces are evenly distributed.
- Once the cream mixture is thick and smooth, carefully spread it evenly over the prepared sponge cake base. Use a spatula or the back of a spoon to smooth the top and ensure the filling is distributed to the edges.
- Place the finished cake in the refrigerator and chill for at least 2 hours, or until the cream layer is set and the cake is thoroughly cold. This will help the flavors meld and make the cake easy to slice.
- After chilling, slice the cake and serve cold. Enjoy this quick and refreshing Schüttelkuchen with Mandarinen!
Notes
You can substitute the vanilla Paradiescreme with lemon or mandarin flavor for a twist. For extra decoration, reserve a few mandarin segments to arrange on top of the cake before serving. This cake is best enjoyed the same day but will keep covered in the refrigerator for up to 2 days. Be sure to drain the mandarins well to avoid a soggy cake.
