Description
Ingredients
Scale
- 1 bunch spring onions or 2 shallots or onions
- 1 package cream cheese or sour cream
- 200 g ham, raw or cooked
- Pepper
- 1 roll puff pastry from the refrigerated section
- A little salt
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 170°C (fan/convection). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper to prevent sticking.
- Peel the spring onions, shallots, or onions and finely dice them. If using spring onions, also chop the green parts. Dice the ham into small cubes.
- In a mixing bowl, combine the diced onions and ham with the cream cheese or sour cream. Season the mixture generously with pepper and a little salt. If desired, add a pinch of Herbes de Provence or your favorite herbs for extra flavor. Stir until evenly mixed.
- Unroll the puff pastry onto a clean work surface, keeping the parchment it comes with underneath if possible. Evenly spread the ham and onion mixture over the entire surface of the pastry, making sure to reach the edges for consistent flavor in every bite.
- Starting from one long side, carefully roll up the puff pastry with the filling inside into a tight log. Take your time to keep the roll even and prevent the filling from spilling out.
- With a sharp knife, slice the rolled pastry into approximately 3 cm thick slices. Gently transfer each slice onto the prepared baking sheet, spacing them slightly apart to allow for expansion during baking.
- Place the baking sheet in the preheated oven and bake the slices for 10 to 15 minutes, or until the pastry turns golden brown and crispy. If you prefer a deeper color and crispier texture, bake a few minutes longer, but watch closely to avoid burning.
- Remove the Flammkuchen rolls from the oven and let them cool for a few minutes before serving. They can be enjoyed hot or at room temperature.
Notes
These Flammkuchen rolls are delicious both hot and cold, making them perfect for brunch, lunch, or as a party snack. Feel free to vary the filling with different types of cheese, cooked bacon, or fresh herbs according to your taste. You can also prepare them in advance and reheat before serving. For the best texture, serve them the day they are baked.
