Geschmorter Weißkohl Rezept Danach ist meine Familie verrückt

Description

Sanft geschmorter Weißkohl: zart und saftig, mit goldenen Rändern, umhüllt von einer würzigen Soja-Glasur. Herzhafter Umami-Geschmack, leichte Süße, appetitlich glänzend und wunderbar aromatisch.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 Weißkohl (white cabbage)
  • 2 EL Öl (2 tablespoons oil)
  • 1/2 Tasse Wasser (1/2 cup water)
  • 1 EL Sojasauce (1 tablespoon soy sauce)

Instructions

  1. Begin by removing the outer leaves from the white cabbage to get rid of any dirt or damaged pieces. Cut the cabbage into quarters and then remove the tough core from each section. Lay each quarter flat and slice it into thin, even strips using a sharp knife.
  2. Heat 2 tablespoons of oil in a large, wide pan or deep skillet over medium heat. Once the oil is hot, add the sliced cabbage to the pan. Pour in 1/2 cup of water to help the cabbage cook evenly and prevent it from sticking to the pan.
  3. Cover the pan with a lid and allow the cabbage to cook gently over medium-low heat for about 30 minutes. Stir the cabbage occasionally every 5 to 7 minutes to ensure it cooks evenly and does not burn at the bottom. If the pan becomes too dry, add a small splash of water as needed.
  4. After about 25 minutes of simmering, remove the lid and pour 1 tablespoon of soy sauce over the cabbage. Stir well to combine, and continue to cook the cabbage uncovered for the final 5 minutes. This allows the liquid to reduce slightly and the flavors to intensify.
  5. Taste the finished cabbage and adjust seasoning with additional soy sauce if desired. Serve hot as a main or side dish, garnished with fresh herbs if you like.

Notes

For extra flavor, you can add a pinch of caraway seeds or a finely chopped onion when sautéing the cabbage. This dish pairs well with potatoes, rice, or as a side to meat and vegetarian main courses. Leftovers can be stored in the fridge for up to 2 days and reheated gently in a pan.
