Kartoffelwedges Rezept

  • Author: Sarah

Description

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 kg Kartoffeln
  • 3 EL Olivenöl
  • 1 EL Salz
  • 1 EL Paprikapulver
  • 1 EL Pfeffer

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 200 degrees Celsius (about 390 degrees Fahrenheit) so it reaches the right temperature while you prepare the potatoes.
  2. Wash the potatoes thoroughly to remove any dirt, as the skins will be left on for extra flavor and crispiness.
  3. Cut the washed potatoes into wedges by first halving them lengthwise, then cutting each half into quarters, so you get evenly sized, wedge-shaped pieces.
  4. Place the potato wedges into a large mixing bowl or a sealable food storage container.
  5. Add the olive oil, salt, paprika powder, and black pepper to the potatoes. Ensure the spices are evenly distributed over all the wedges.
  6. Seal the container tightly (or if using a bowl, cover with a lid or plate) and shake vigorously for about 30 seconds. This will help the oil and spices coat each potato wedge evenly. If you do not have a sealable container, use your hands or a large spoon to toss the potatoes until they are well coated.
  7. Line a baking tray with parchment paper or lightly grease it with a bit of oil to prevent sticking.
  8. Spread the seasoned potato wedges out in a single layer on the prepared baking tray. Make sure the wedges are not overlapping, as this will help them bake evenly and become crispy.
  9. Place the tray in the preheated oven and bake for 30-40 minutes. About halfway through the baking time, use tongs or a spatula to turn the wedges so they brown evenly on all sides.
  10. Check for doneness by piercing a wedge with a fork; the potatoes should be golden brown, crispy on the outside, and tender on the inside. Bake longer if needed, but watch closely to avoid burning.
  11. Once baked to your desired crispiness, remove the tray from the oven and let the wedges cool for a few minutes before serving. Enjoy the wedges hot, optionally served with your favorite dips such as sour cream, ketchup, or aioli.

Notes

For extra flavor, you can add garlic powder, dried herbs like rosemary or thyme, or a pinch of chili powder to the seasoning mix. Using waxy potatoes will result in crispier wedges, while starchy potatoes will be fluffier inside. Make sure not to overcrowd the baking tray to ensure even crispiness. Serve immediately for best results.
