- 4 EL Rum
- 100 g Butter
- 300 g Zartbitterschokolade
- Schokoladenraspel oder Schokostreusel
- 2 EL Kakaopulver
Instructions
- Begin by allowing the butter to come to room temperature so that it becomes soft and easy to work with. Place the butter in a large mixing bowl.
- Grate the Zartbitterschokolade (dark chocolate) finely if it is not already in small pieces. This will help it blend smoothly with the other ingredients.
- Add the grated chocolate, cocoa powder, and rum to the bowl with the softened butter. Using a hand mixer or a sturdy spoon, mix all the ingredients together thoroughly until you achieve a smooth, uniform, and creamy mass. Make sure there are no lumps of butter or chocolate remaining.
- Cover the bowl with plastic wrap and place the mixture in the refrigerator for about 15-20 minutes. This will make the mixture firmer and easier to shape into balls.
- After chilling, take small portions of the mixture (about the size of a walnut, approximately 2 cm in diameter) and roll them between your palms to form even, round balls.
- Pour the Schokoladenraspel or Schokostreusel (chocolate shavings or sprinkles) onto a plate. Roll each ball in the chocolate shavings or sprinkles until they are completely coated on all sides.
- Place the finished Rumkugeln onto a plate or in paper mini-cupcake liners. Once all the balls are formed and coated, arrange them on a tray.
- Cover the Rumkugeln and place them in the refrigerator for several hours, or until they are firm and well chilled. This will help them set and develop their full flavor.
- Once fully chilled, serve the Rumkugeln directly from the refrigerator. Enjoy them as a delicious treat for yourself or share them with family and friends.
Notes
For the best flavor and texture, use high-quality dark chocolate. You can adjust the amount of rum to taste, or replace it with rum flavoring for a non-alcoholic version. If you prefer a different coating, try rolling the balls in cocoa powder, chopped nuts, or coconut flakes. Store the Rumkugeln in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to one week.
