Description
Ingredients
Scale
- 1 kg mixed ground meat (beef and pork)
- 2 stale bread rolls
- 2 onions
- 2 red bell peppers
- 2 eggs
- 1 tablespoon herb mustard
- 1 tablespoon curry ketchup
- Salt and pepper
- Milk
- Sweet paprika powder
Instructions
- Begin by preparing the bread rolls. Place the stale bread rolls in a bowl and pour enough milk over them to soak. Allow the bread rolls to sit in the milk for several minutes until they are thoroughly softened. Once softened, squeeze out the excess milk with your hands and set the bread aside.
- Peel the onions and finely dice them. Wash the red bell peppers, remove the seeds and stems, and cut them into small, even pieces.
- In a large mixing bowl, combine the squeezed bread rolls, finely chopped onions, and chopped bell peppers. Add the raw eggs, herb mustard, and curry ketchup to the bowl.
- Add the mixed ground meat to the bowl with the other ingredients. Season the mixture generously with salt, pepper, and sweet paprika powder to taste.
- Using clean hands, thoroughly knead and mix all the ingredients in the bowl together until you have a uniform, well-combined meat mixture. Make sure that the bread, vegetables, and seasonings are evenly distributed throughout the mixture.
- Preheat your oven to 180°C (356°F) and line a baking sheet with baking paper or a silicone baking mat.
- With damp hands, take small portions of the meat mixture and roll them into balls approximately the size of a walnut. Place each meatball onto the prepared baking sheet, leaving a little space between each one.
- Once all the meatballs have been formed and arranged on the baking sheet, place the sheet in the preheated oven. Bake the meatballs for about 20 minutes, or until they are cooked through and lightly browned on the outside.
- For an extra crispy finish, in the last few minutes of baking, increase the oven temperature to the highest setting or use the broil/grill function. Broil the meatballs for a short time until the tops are golden brown and slightly crisp. Watch them closely to prevent burning.
- Remove the meatballs from the oven and allow them to cool slightly before serving. These Party Bällchen yield approximately 50 pieces and can be prepared a day in advance, making them perfect for parties or gatherings.
Notes
These Party Bällchen taste great both warm and cold, making them ideal for buffets, parties, or as a snack. You can prepare them a day ahead, and they remain delicious and juicy. Serve them with dips like ketchup, mustard, or a yogurt-based sauce for extra flavor. If you prefer, you can also add fresh herbs or a pinch of chili powder to the meat mixture for a touch of heat.
