Description
Ingredients
Scale
- 1 ½ kg mixed ground meat (alternatively Mett)
- Chopped onions, as needed
- 3 cans tomato cream soup
- 2 jars Puszta salad (500 g each)
- 1 cup heavy cream
- Green bell pepper
- 3 packages processed cheese
- Salt
- Pepper
Instructions
- Begin by finely chopping the onions and green bell pepper. Set aside. Open the cans of tomato cream soup and jars of Puszta salad so they are ready to use.
- Heat a large, heavy-bottomed soup pot over medium-high heat. Add the mixed ground meat to the pot and start breaking it up with a wooden spoon or spatula.
- Add the chopped onions to the pot with the meat. Cook the mixture, stirring frequently, until the meat is fully browned and the onions are translucent and fragrant. This should take about 8-10 minutes. Make sure to break up any large clumps of meat so it cooks evenly.
- Season the meat and onion mixture generously with salt and freshly ground black pepper, stirring well to ensure even seasoning.
- Add the chopped green bell pepper to the pot, stirring it into the meat and onion mixture. Cook for another 2-3 minutes to soften the bell pepper slightly.
- Pour in the tomato cream soup from the cans, stirring to combine with the meat and vegetables. Next, add the Puszta salad (including the liquid from the jars) and mix thoroughly.
- Add the processed cheese packages to the pot. Stir continuously over medium heat until the cheese is completely melted and integrated into the soup, creating a smooth and creamy texture.
- Pour in the heavy cream and stir until fully combined. Allow the soup to come to a gentle boil, then reduce the heat to low and let it simmer for 10-15 minutes, stirring occasionally to prevent sticking.
- Taste the soup and adjust the seasoning with additional salt and pepper if necessary.
- Serve the Sauna Suppe piping hot in bowls, optionally garnished with fresh herbs or extra chopped bell pepper for color. Enjoy with crusty bread or as is.
Notes
For an extra kick, you can add some chopped chili or a dash of hot sauce to the soup. If you cannot find Puszta salad, substitute with a mixed pickled vegetable salad. The soup can be made ahead of time and reheated, as the flavors only improve after sitting. Serve with fresh bread for a complete meal.
