Description
Ingredients
Scale
- 285g corn kernels (from a can)
- 2 Wiener sausages
- 3 pickled gherkins
- 1 tablespoon mayonnaise
- black pepper
- salt
- 100g Emmental cheese
- 2 red bell peppers
Instructions
- Begin by preparing the vegetables. Wash the red bell peppers thoroughly under cold running water. Slice off the stems, cut the peppers in half lengthwise, and remove the seeds and any white membranes. Lay the pepper halves flat and dice them into small, even cubes. Place the diced peppers into a large mixing bowl.
- Next, prepare the pickled gherkins. Cut each gherkin into small cubes, ensuring they are similar in size to the diced peppers for an even texture throughout the salad. Add the diced gherkins to the bowl with the bell peppers.
- Cut the Emmental cheese into small, uniform cubes. This will allow the cheese to be evenly distributed throughout the salad and provide a pleasant bite in every forkful. Add the cheese cubes to the mixing bowl.
- Take the Wiener sausages and slice them into thin rounds, about 3-4mm thick. The thin slices will mix well with the other ingredients and make the salad easier to eat. Add the sliced sausages to the bowl.
- Open the can of corn kernels and pour them into a fine-mesh sieve or colander. Rinse the corn briefly under cold water and let it drain thoroughly to remove excess liquid. Once drained, add the corn to the mixing bowl with the other ingredients.
- Using large salad spoons or clean hands, gently mix all the prepared ingredients together in the bowl until they are evenly combined. Make sure the distribution of vegetables, cheese, sausage, and corn is uniform.
- Add one tablespoon of mayonnaise to the bowl. Sprinkle a pinch of salt and a few cracks of black pepper over the salad. Mix everything thoroughly so that the mayonnaise lightly coats all the ingredients. Taste the salad and adjust the seasoning by adding more salt or pepper if desired.
- For best results, cover the bowl with plastic wrap and refrigerate the salad for at least 30 minutes before serving. This allows the flavors to meld together. Serve chilled as a main dish or side.
Notes
Feel free to personalize the salad by adding finely chopped onions, fresh herbs such as parsley or chives, or a dash of mustard for extra flavor. You can substitute the Emmental cheese with another mild cheese if desired. For a lighter version, use low-fat mayonnaise or a combination of mayonnaise and plain yogurt.
