Description
Saftiges Hackfleisch, würzige Paprika und Chili schmiegen sich auf einen goldbraunen Kartoffelboden. Zart schmelzender Käse und aromatische Tomatensauce vollenden diese herzhafte, knusprig-cremige Pizza.
Ingredients
Scale
- 900 g mixed ground meat (Hackfleisch, gemischt)
- 3 red bell peppers, sliced into strips
- 3 onions, cut into half rings
- 1 ½ chili peppers, cut into long thin strips
- 1 ½ packages potato dumpling mix (Kartoffelklöße halb & halb, for 12 pieces)
- 300 g grated cheese (Mozzarella, Edamer or similar)
- 3 tomatoes, pureed, or some pizza sauce
- 3 teaspoons dried marjoram
- 1 ½ teaspoons sweet paprika powder
- freshly grated nutmeg, to taste
- some oil or clarified butter (Butterschmalz)
- salt and pepper
Instructions
- Begin by preparing the potato dumpling dough according to the package instructions. In the water for the dough, grate in a generous amount of fresh nutmeg and add salt for flavor. Once you have mixed the dough, let it rest for 20 minutes to allow it to hydrate and develop its texture.
- While the dough is resting, heat a large frying pan over medium-high heat and add a little oil or clarified butter. Add the mixed ground meat to the pan and cook it, breaking it up with a spatula, for about 5 minutes or until browned and cooked through. Remove the pan from the heat.
- Add the pureed tomatoes (or pizza sauce) to the cooked meat and stir to combine. Season the mixture generously with salt, freshly ground black pepper, dried marjoram, and sweet paprika powder. Mix well so all the flavors are evenly distributed.
- Preheat your oven to 180°C (356°F) and line a large baking sheet with parchment paper. Once the potato dough has rested, spread it evenly over the baking sheet to form the base of your pizza. Use a spatula or your hands to press it out into an even layer covering the entire sheet.
- Spoon the seasoned meat and tomato mixture evenly over the potato dough base, spreading it out so every part of the base is covered.
- Next, distribute the sliced onions, chili pepper strips, and red bell pepper strips evenly over the meat and tomato layer, ensuring an even distribution of vegetables for flavor and color.
- Finally, sprinkle the grated cheese generously over the top of the pizza, covering the vegetables and meat completely to create a delicious, cheesy topping.
- Place the baking sheet in the lower third of the preheated oven and bake at 180°C for about 25 minutes. This will allow the base to cook through and the toppings to meld.
- After 25 minutes, check if the cheese is golden brown. If not, move the baking sheet to the upper third of the oven and bake for a few more minutes until the cheese is bubbly and golden brown.
- Remove the potato pizza from the oven and let it cool for a few minutes before slicing. Serve hot and enjoy your delicious potato pizza with ground meat and vegetables.
Notes
You can use homemade potato dough instead of a ready-made mix if you prefer a more traditional touch. Adjust the amount of chili to your taste for more or less spiciness. Try experimenting with different cheese varieties for a unique flavor. This pizza is best served fresh out of the oven but also tastes great when reheated.
