Description
Zartes Hähnchen in goldener Kruste, gebettet in eine seidige Sahnesauce mit schmelzendem Mozzarella, frischen Tomaten und aromatischem Basilikum – cremig, saftig, farbenfroh und unwiderstehlich würzig.
Ingredients
Scale
- 4 Hühnerbrustfilets
- Salz
- Pfeffer
- 1 EL Öl
- 250 g Cocktailtomaten
- ½ Topf Basilikum
- 200 g Sahne
- 100 g Sahne-Schmelzkäse
- Fett für die Form
- 125 g Mozzarella
- Parmesan, optional
- 1 EL Kräuterbutter, optional
Instructions
- Begin by preparing the chicken breasts: Rinse the 4 Hühnerbrustfilets under cold water and pat them dry thoroughly with paper towels. Season each filet generously on both sides with salt and freshly ground black pepper.
- Heat 1 tablespoon of oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Once the oil is shimmering, add the seasoned chicken breasts. Sear the fillets for about 5 minutes, turning occasionally, until they are golden brown on all sides. Remove the chicken from the pan and set aside.
- Prepare the vegetables and herbs: Wash the cocktail tomatoes thoroughly and slice each one in half. Pick the basil leaves from the stems, rinse them gently, pat them dry, and finely chop them.
- Make the creamy basil sauce: Pour 200 grams of Sahne (cream) into a small saucepan and bring to a gentle boil over medium heat. Add 100 grams of Sahne-Schmelzkäse (cream cheese) to the hot cream, stirring continuously until the cheese has fully melted and the sauce is smooth. Season the sauce with salt and pepper to taste. Stir in two-thirds of the chopped basil, reserving the remaining third for garnish.
- Preheat your oven to 200°C (top/bottom heat) or 175°C (fan-assisted). Lightly grease a baking dish with butter or oil to prevent sticking.
- Assemble the casserole: Place the seared chicken breasts and halved cocktail tomatoes evenly in the prepared baking dish. Pour the hot basil-cream sauce over the chicken and tomatoes, ensuring everything is well coated.
- Cut 125 grams of mozzarella into small pieces or thin slices. Distribute the mozzarella evenly over the chicken fillets. If desired, sprinkle grated Parmesan cheese over the top and dot with small amounts of Kräuterbutter (herb butter) for extra flavor.
- Transfer the baking dish to the preheated oven. Bake for approximately 30 minutes, or until the chicken is fully cooked through, the cheese is melted and golden, and the sauce is bubbling.
- Once baked, remove the dish from the oven and sprinkle the remaining chopped basil over the top for a fresh and aromatic finish.
- Serve the Mozzarella-Hähnchen in Basilikum-Sahnesauce hot, ideally accompanied by crispy croquettes or fluffy rice to soak up the creamy sauce.
Notes
For added flavor, try adding a sprinkle of freshly grated Parmesan and a few small dollops of Kräuterbutter before baking. You can also use other fresh herbs such as oregano or thyme in addition to basil for a different twist. This dish pairs well with rice, pasta, or potato side dishes. Make sure not to overcook the chicken to keep it juicy and tender.
